Every year festival republic host a focus group where they attempt to take feedback from patrons to the Leeds and Reading festivals in an attempt to improve them. Someone on another forum has kindly typed up these questions, as there are so many we won’t publish them all in this article but will attempt to summarise them and make the full list of questions and answers available here: http://carlingfesty.com/2008-focus-group-qa/
- Improved competitions
- Improved publicity of webcasts and more coverage by the BBC
- Two sets of pre-sale tickets for 2009, one directly after the festival and another in October/Christmas. Each batch will be 15,000
- Will look in to free velcro wrist bands
- No increase on programme prices (no higher than £8)
- Improved sign posting
- No more Friday to Saturday tickets due to massive confusion caused
- No more tickets will go on sale
- No wednesday night entertainment, potential thursday night entertainment
- More tap water points
- No more carling but Tubourg, Carlsberg and Gaymers
- Might bring back cold beer swap but they know about the Tesco Value Lager trick
- More urinals
- May open showers 24 hours a day
This isn’t all just the best summary I could do, if you want more information read the page here: http://carlingfesty.com/2008-focus-group-qa/

Well that was hectic, I think every Leeds and Reading site on the internet went down at about 6.30 with so many people hitting them. We had ten times our usual traffic and hopefully we got through to as many people as possible. If you visited us yesterday you will have noticed it looking a bit different, this was an attempt to keep the site up, it probably meant we lasted longer than others but we did lose it eventually.
As for tickets it seems a lot of people we’re able to get through, Leeds Festival and Reading Festival weekend tickets have now officially “sold out” but if you didn’t get one keep checking. More tickets get put on sale, credit cards get declined and lots of other things happen that mean there could still be some available. Don’t hit eBay yet, there’s no point in panic buying, if you must buy your ticket off an eBay tout then wait a few weeks when you will be able to get them much cheaper. Basically, don’t panic, you’ve got until August to find a ticket and if you’re determined you will!

It has just been announced that tickets will also be available from HMV on the 1st of April (Tuesday, the day after they go on sale online). So if you’re unable to get hold of tickets on the Monday then you have a second chance by going to HMV at opening. It is important to note that you will have to bring photo I.D. with you and it is a maximum of 2 tickets per person.
Update:The tickets will be available only at HMVs in the following places: Bath, Basingstoke, Bracknell,
Bristol, Broadmead, Guildford, High Wycombe, Kingston, Newbury, Oxford, Portsmouth, Reading Friar St, Reading Oracle, Slough, Southampton, Staines, Swindon, Winchester, Windsor, Woking

First let’s begin with the official news that tickets will be available on the 31st of March at 7p.m.
Buying tickets for Leeds and Reading festivals is no mean feat, there will be more people wanting tickets than tickets available, this has happened 2 years in a row now with tickets selling out after under an hour for Reading festival and under three hours of Leeds festival.
It is very important that if you want your ticket you prepare yourself, that’s why we at Carlingfesty have prepared this excellent ticket buying guide, available here: Buying 2008 Leeds and Reading Tickets
Secondly I would like to apologise for the lack of updates on this site, due a a series of technical (and social…) issues the effort put in to the site has been lacking. This will change from today, as we get closer to the festival it’s really important to update it and I fully intend to. So fear not, Carlingfesty is back and aiming to be the best for Leeds Festival and Reading Festival news and rumours around.

It has been announced that Carling are no longer the official sponsors of the Leeds and Reading festivals. Carling have dropped their sponsorship after 9 years with the two festivals. Little more detail is gone in to by Festival Republic (who used to be known as Mean Fiddler) other than that it was a mutual agreement.
It’s unclear what affect this will have on the festivals, obviously there will no longer be no longer be a “Beer Amnsety” tent/stage and all the other things that bore the Carling name will have to find other sponsorship or be removed all together. It will be interesting to see the affects this has on the festival.
In other news I just want to assure you that we’re still running this site and you can expect more and more updates as we get closer to the lineup. As for the name of this site? We’re going to have to wait and see to see what’s going to change regarding that.
